1. What are you reading now?
2. What's the best book you've read this year?
3. Completing this meme enters you in a drawing for John Shors's Beneath a Marble Sky, a novel about the construction of the Taj Mahal. What's your favorite work of historical fiction?
4. Pick a random book from your shelves and write down its first sentence. Does it make you want to read more?
5. Have you ever read a book and wished that you'd written it? What was it?
6. What book on your shelves do you wish you'd never bought?
7. Have you ever bought someone a book for BAFAB?

Thank you, Susan! (Especially for your answer to number 2--though it's not historical *fiction* [no. 3]; but you're not the first who's made that mistake. Something in the air..)

I know that the data was genuine, but I felt that you fleshed out the characters sufficiently to turn it into a 'story'. You turned Neaira into a sympathetic character in spite of her actually being 'unknowable'.

Thanks, Susan! I may have to upbraid people again if they don't take part in the contest. It was effective last time. Otherwise you'll win by default.
