Amazon   This early thriller by Gregg Hurwitz succeeds in part. It is exciting at times, but I had a number of issues with it. For example, too much time is spent at the beginning of the book detailing the crimes of a bunch of prison inmates whose histories don't ultimately matter to the story. The lead character (i.e., the good guy) is not appealing. There's some secretive spy guy who seems to have authority over the investigation but whose role in the plot is not at all clear. He could have been excised from the text completely with nothing lost. With all that said, though, the book also gets a lot right.
